Work and stuff

By | July 19, 2011

So I’ve landed back at my alma mater as a computer technician for the second time.  It’s nice to know that things haven’t changed, including the fact that all of my stuff is still here from 10 years ago.  It’s much like a time capsule that I sealed up many years ago.  I guess on the bright side, I’m the one cleaning up the leftovers.

As of now, I am fighting with Autodesk to get the correct licensing information for their product.  I don’t know why it takes them so damn long to come back with the info considering I have a copy of the purchase order showing that the site paid roughly $20,000 for the software package.  Where’s the thinking needed for that…  it was bought and paid for in 2009, give me the license.

Some days my job makes it difficult to enjoy it.  :)  But I suppose so does everyone else’s job.  Enjoy your day.

Bad weather, poor air quality and slave labor

By | July 9, 2008

So this is probably a pointless rant because there isn’t much that can be done about it…  anyways.

I am completely fed up with the fires around Sacramento.  The air quality has been worse this year than I remember in the past.  The smoke in the sky nearly cripples your lungs and to make matters worse, you can’t just drive up the hill* to get out of it.  Also, it’s going to be 110 degrees today, 108 tomorrow and 100 degrees after that.  Hopefully we won’t have a super heat wave like we did a couple years ago; wish we had a pool.

OOoooo…  I am also angry that they would make my friend work in a building with broken A/C on one of the hottest days of the year.  Talk about slave labor.  Any humane business would send their employees home until they could fix the problem.  Perhaps buy the employees some ice cold water, or fans…  something!

*up the hill – A phrase commonly used by Sacramentians to describe their journey east on Highway 50 or 80 in to the mountains.
